Outer Harbour / Marina

Harbour Dredging
Wednesday, 14th March for 10 Days
The outer harbour / marina and entrance are dredged each year to maintain an adequate depth of water for boats at all tide states. The outer harbour silts up due mainly to sand from east beach being swept by pervailing sea currents in a westerly direction. Heavy machinery will remove excess sand from the harbour and dump it on west beach. The sea then naturally cleans the sand, leaving a smoother topping to west beach.
The outer harbour / marina and slipway will be unavailable during this period. Also, there will be no access to west beach and limited access to the Esplanade.
