West Bay Location

Seagull waiting to be fed

Situated at the western end of Chesil Beach and forming part of the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline, West Bay offers two unspoilt beaches either side of its quaint fishing harbour.

The historic market town of Bridport is less than two miles away, offering supermarkets, shops, medical centre, hospital and leisure centre.  Bridport also holds twice weekly open air markets, including a popular antiques market and a monthly organic market.  Lyme Regis, Dorchester, Abbotsbury Swannery and Charmouth are all a short distance away.

How to get to West Bay

West Bay is located on England's South Coast.  It forms one of the coastal towns of Lyme Bay, which itself is towards the western end of the English Channel.

By Road

From London

Take the M3 southbound.  Just after junction 13 take the M27 westbound.  The M27 then becomes the A31.  Turn onto the A35 (signposted Dorchester).  Continue on the A35 until you arrive at Bridport.  Take the B3157 to West Bay.

From Bristol

Take the M5 southbound.  At junction 25 (Taunton), take the A358 to Axminster.  Take the A35 eastbound to Bridport.  Then the B3157 to West Bay.

By Air

The nearest regional airports are at Bournemouth and Exeter.

By Train

From Waterloo (London), take the train to Dorchester South.  Then either buses to Bridport, then West Bay, or directly by taxi.

From Bristol (Temple Meads), take the train to Dorchester West.
