An exhibition celebrating the bicentenary of the Battle of
Trafalgar with stunning displays including : letters from HMS
Victory, replica of a gun port and cannon from HMS Victory, material
on public display for the first time, interactives and activities for
children of all ages, personal possessions belonging to the three

Tim Laycock performes the tale of Midshipman Roberts of Burton Bradstock
- a Dorset sailor who was at Trafalgar. Performed in period costume with

of Ewa-lis-Bell's wonderful work. Her talent with colour and design was

09 The Traditional Songs Of Dorset Sherborne. A mini-festival
celebrating 100 years since The Hammond Brothers from Clevedon in
Somerset toured Dorset on their bicycles collecting old songs before they
disappeared, succeeding in finding over 90 singers and gathering swell
over 600 songs. The festival starts with a talk by Bonny Sartin of The
Yetties on The Hammonds and their collecting, includes a music workshop
by Pete and Mac of the Yetties, a singaround, a tuition session for
complete beginners on the English Concertina by John Dipper (instruments
provided) and finishes with a concert in the evening with The Yetties and

Charity supporting projects in the Philippines in cluding 'Kanlungan'.
This organisation helps homeless abandoned and abused children on the
streets and in the squatter areas of Manila. We invite you to meet Sol
Balbero who has been the administrator of Kanlungan for 17 years and is
visiting England. She will talk about her experiences at this meeting.

17 Pack Monday Fair Main Streets Of Sherborne, Sherborne, 9am -
10.30pm. Annual fair going back approx. 700 years, held on old Michaelmas
Day (1st Monday after 10th October). Although no longer an agricultural
fair, it is still a major event in Sherborne with four of the town's main
streets becoming full of street traders and food stalls for the day, and
a funfair is usually held on the edge of town. The fair is heralded in by
a midnight procession through the streets of 'Teddy Roe's Band', blowing
horns and whistles and banging saucepans.
